The Breast Hoodie Ever & Some Contreversy to Match

Super model Nicole Trunfio looks effortless on the cover of Elle Australia. The June issue featured a spread of beautiful, intimate photos that are sure to tug at anybody's heart strings... Anybody that has come to terms with what it means to be a mother.

In a world filled with ignorance - babies are our best chance for change. They don't understand all the unnatural concepts that have been embedded into our world. The first thing The only thing they understand in the beginning - is the comfort of their mothers. For me these photos represent that beautiful fresh start offered to the world and I Love Nicole for doing this photoshoot... and I would love to think that when this was all taking place she was thinking NO BIG DEAL.

I'm slowly leading into the fact that the feminist in me is disappointed with Elle magazine.. because this version of the issue is exclusive to Elle's subscribers.

This version is the one that made it to the stands.. Beautiful but confusing as hell.
I'm sure lots of conversations were had in the makings of this cover and I find it hard to believe that in a room full of people publishing a women's magazine someone didn't pipe up and refuse to let this be a controversial topic.

Just put it on the cover so that when some idiot expresses their ignorance, someone from a nearby breastfeeding mafia can confidently express theirs knowing they are more accepted than the opposed. IT'S NO BIG DEAL!! Don't protect the feelings of the ignorant, protect the feelings of mothers who are new, learning and doing the best possible to nurture their child.

It can be confusing being a woman or bringing up a daughter in a world that send the message that this isn't appropriate for news stands or grocery aisles. Sexualizing a woman's body has become more acceptable than embracing it's natural capabilities. It's opportunities like this that normalize breastfeeding and need to be recognized and seized by companies targeted towards women. Elle... you dropped the ball!

To put a more positive spin on the topic..

For Valentine's Day this year I received something a little more suitable for my new life style from a local boutique for nursing and pregnant mothers. I remember everygift this man has ever given me - he sure knows how to make them memorable.

This winter entailed of lots of time consuming, hands on work (not to mention shovelling). Trying to juggle it all with the man of the house working away can be ridiculous at times  but it's really been an amazing experience that has shown me how freaking cool our baby really is - happy to take part in anything... So easy going.  Sighhhhh... With that being said this "easy access" hoodie makes an active mommy's life in Snowva Scotia a little easier and every little bit counts. It got lots of wear the last 2 months...

He knows what he's doing :)

Anyway! We were at the post office when I first found this adorable little shop for the nursing and pregnant - Hazelnut and Rose. As soon as I walk in I'm drawn to a big blown up image of her two little girls, the hormonal mess I am, I instantly choke up lol. The owner is sweet as pie and after talking to her I learn the name of the store is inspired by the names of her girls and that does it for me - Love this little shop. It's the best quality and most innovative maternity / breast feeding ware I've seen.. and I left with a full heart! Visit her website here

Wish I would have known this boutique was around when I was pregnant! Maybe I wouldn't have been rolling around in maxi dresses and leggings all the time. She also hosts events for those new Moms looking to get out of the house and gain some new perspectives :).
