Chalkboard Spraypaint Fun!

For the clutter freaks!!  Knowing the mail and keys aren't going to make it to the counter allows me to breathe... And the chalkboard feature is just for spreading a little looove.

I got these wooden knob signs at Michael's for 99 cents each.

Chalkboard paint for organizing!

I'm probably getting a little carried away. I mean.. she can't read. But I'm not done yet! Best 12 dollars I've spent!!

DIY Nursery; Small Projects - Before and After

A small budget for a baby nursery and a lot of free time = a thrifting adventure! These are some before and after of the smaller projects from the baby nursery.

This WAS a big gorgeous ornate mirror that I found over 2 years ago. Got it home, leaned it up against the wall to take my shoes off and 'smash'... devastating. I haven't known what to do with it until now!!

I used this really pretty purple color to paint just one wall in the room (being cheap) so I used the left overs for the frame (being cheap again). Michael's sells these wooden letters for less than a toonie so I painted one to match the Giraffe theme. Now this piece hangs over the crib!

Tip: I mounted the "A" with Velcro from the dollar store, these letters are too thin for nails or screws. It would either not sit flat or it would split.

This ugly silver monstrosity to the left was another failed DIY project. It was a super 80's pink and brass lamp and I painted it with a metallic spray paint that wasn't as chrome as I thought (turned out horrifying). So being cheap again, I used left over paint from our bedroom to hand paint the giraffe print! (This project inspired the "A" in the frame).

Tip: Winners always sells cheap lampshades by themselves if you have a lamp that needs a boost.

Simple enough - Salvation army had so many little nick nack shelfs for around 3 bucks! This one just needed some sanding and paint, plus I added a few hooks!

Before

After

I can't imagine spending money on decorative things amongst all the other necessities. Everything is so short lived when it comes to spending money on a baby! Plus doing it yourself will help the time pass when your pushing 200 pounds and eager to meet the love of your life!

In conclusion I barely left the house for this "thrifting adventure"of accessorizing the nursery, so the moral of the story is - Don't throw out your failed DIY projects!!

I'll share some furniture DIY's from the room shortly!

2014 Givenchy

Audrey Hepburn - Givenchy 1954
As you can tell I don't regularly make blog posts. The wonderful thing about this being MY blog (if I can even consider it that) is I can do whatever the hell I want! lol. In addition I'm a struggling student and the battle between time, and a shitty laptop play a big role. The silver lining? I'm virtually a nobody so there is no pressure to maintain anything.

I'm far from a fashion guru, but I sure as hell know what I like. And chances are if I like something it means I'm OBSESSED. Which leads me to the 2014 collection for Givenchy... There's no denying that Givenchy is the epitome of CLASSIC. I've always followed their collections and campaigns - more for the unique selection of models and their ability to create the concept of classic versus follow it.

The recipe to my obsession: There are really no words, Rihanna is a piece of art and this face Vail is everything... just EVERYTHING.

And Go Kendal! I've never followed the Kardashians but they've got me now!

Some women were made with bodies that were built to NOT distract from beautiful clothing... Despite being raised in an environment of silicone - shes the first to embrace her body without changing it and I hope the modelling industry helps her embrace being a fellow bean pole.

However.... Riri and Kendal Jenner sans eyebrows are minor to me compared to the 2014 campaign with Miss Erykah Badu. It would be an understatement to say I grew up on her music - getting into that is a whole other can of worms.

I seriously shed a tear the first time I saw this, they couldn't have picked anybody better. I wouldn't be suprised if she was the inspiration behind the entire collection. It's described as a "Crash between Japanese and African" fashions. I.. call it perfection, nothing is out of place, nothing distracts - pure perfection! The woman just LOOKS like strength, A queen... Givenchy you NEVER DISAPPOINT!

Overdue, But worth following! - Love following the collection and LOVE reading the interviews with Riccardo on why he chose her. My Intention is always to come share acouple photos and I easily get lost in these extensive rants.... Today is International Women's Day so be a queen / recognize a queen / empower a queen who needs it!!!!!!!
